THE LIBRARY OF BABEL: BORGES IN A METAPHYSICAL KEY
Main Article Content
Abstract
As the anxious title anticipates, the present essay intends to make a philosophical reading in a metaphysical key, accompanied at the same time by a literary analysis, of the titled story by Borges Babel's Library, contained in the even more comprehensive Fictions. To carry out this undertaking, it will be necessary not only to start from the biblical story of the tower of Babel, but also to make a detailed analysis of the words chosen with great specificity and with no less intention on the part of Jorge Luis Borges, in order to elucidate the connection between the Borgean fiction in question and the tireless human tendency -in this case, given through language- towards a totality that can be interpreted here as a certain divinity.
