FIGURAL INTERPRETATION OF CONTEMPORARY EVENTS AND THE PROPHECIES IN THE SOCIAL DILEMMA
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the present work we seek to make some conjectures about the interpretation modalities of historical events that are contemporary to us. For this task we use the framework proposed by the philosopher of history Hayden White, who from a narrativist perspective invites us to think that every historical fact is fictional as long as it is discursively apropriated. The modality of fiction in which we deepen is figuration, recovered by Eric Auerbach. Figuration allows an event to be provided with interpretative links with its past, its present and its future in a non-linear causality modality. As a test case, we take the Netflx documentary The Social Dilemma, the interpretations it offers of social and political events of recent years and the dystopian prophecy it makes.
