Fictional Representations: A Reflction On The Audiovisual Media's Mode Of Storytelling
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper aims to reflct on how historical narratives and the expe- riences they try to represent can be linked. It starts from the idea that there is an intrinsic tension between lived experience and its narrative representation, which raises questions about the accuracy and effctiveness of these narratives. To ad- dress this issue, various theoretical approaches to fitional representation will be explored. First, the reflctions of Louis Mink, who sees narrative form as an essential cognitive tool, will be presented. Second, Hayden White’s proposal, which focuses on the methodological value of narrative for historical representation, will be analyzed. Third, David Carr's thesis, which establishes a continuity between narrative and what actually happened, will be reconsidered. Finally, the relationship between experience and narrative will be discussed, with a special focus on the diffrence between documentary and fition fims.
