Muramento: estampas de la búsqueda de Pamela Gallardo Photo-narrative
Main Article Content
Abstract
These intervened photos were generated by searching the gallery of Mrs. María del Carmen Volante's cell phone. Since November 5, 2017, she has been searching for her daughter Pamela Gallardo Volante, who disappeared in Mexico City in unclarified circumstances, like so many others. We ask ourselves: What monuments are there for those who are not there? What antimonuments are there for Pamela's mother who has no information because there is no justice, no right, no letter, no citizenship for those below? The photographs show fundamental moments in the investigation into the cause that, more than 2,397 days later, has no progress or answers. María del Carmen, this searching mother, like many others, hopes to find information (on her own account) that will allow her to get closer to the whereabouts of her relative. The pieces are also a satire on the “investigation” that exhibits the institutional violence exercised against the groups that search for missing people throughout our territory in Mexico.
